Shirley Bach and Mooi Standing
Dr Shirley Bach is Head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Brighton. She has designed curricula for nurses that integrate interpersonal relationship skills and communication studies and has specialised in health psychology and the application of psychology to health and illness settings. Recently, she has developed an interest in new learning technologies which combines her understanding of both communication and pedagogic theories.
Mooi Standing (joint series editor for personal and professional learning and development titles) Principal Lecturer and Quality Lead in the Department of Nursing and Applied Clinical Studies, Canterbury Christ Church University. Mooi practiced mental health and general nursing in various hospital and community settings before becoming a lecturer, and has been involved in nurse education for over 20 years. Mooi is actively involved in the development of collaborative nursing programmes at undergraduate and post-qualifying levels in Malaysia. She is the designated Programme Director and Academic Link Manager for the collaborative BSc Nursing Studies with Malaysia. In addition, Mooi teaches and supervise nursing students from undergraduate to PhD level studies. Mooi is also an accredited Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) reviewer/managing reviewer approving, monitoring, and assuring the quality of nursing programmes throughout the United Kingdom, and provides external consultancy in curriculum development and quality enhancement both nationally and internationally.
